We have had a looong winter here in Minnesota. The snow started in November and we still have feet on the ground. It’s going to be a good while until we can even think about gardening outside. Exactly why I need to fake it inside to tide me over!
My bestie and her family took an epic trip to France recently and her pictures of old buildings and gorgeous gardens inspired my Spring decor. Her daughter even got engaged in front of the Eiffel tower (so romantic). The romance of vintage garden style is the theme for this year’s Spring decorating. Hopefully you’ll get plenty of ideas that you can incorporate in your home’s Spring decor!
Spring Decor in the Living Room
Last fall I picked up this framed print on the side of the road. I loved the old gold frame and the pretty flowers. When I scored a couple lavender swags from Home Goods recently for a song, I decided I was running with the purple theme for Spring. Anyone else love decorating with purple in the Spring?
This roadside print is the anchor of the Spring mantel, once I got rid of it’s glass. Scrolly corbels, a pretty estate sale brass lamp and the purple-flowered swags got the room’s romantic theme going.
My “Upcycled Old Garden Fencing Cloche” sits atop one of my favorite junkyard finds with Spring blooming flowers on the coffee table. I’m loving the fragrance! The “Repurposed Vintage Glass Light Shade Pedestal Bowl” was the perfect scrolly accent to fill with oversized vintage fabric eggs.
My vintage suitcase tower makes my family nervous, but I’ve told them it’s totally secure because I wedged books in between;) I switch up the display for the season; I’m featuring the green ones now. The vintage cubby display hold bunnies and eggs for Easter.
Mr. Fix-it and I recently joined the choir at the new church we’re going to. We are so excited to be able to sing all the classic Easter favorites this year, accompanied by an orchestra. It’s going to be a treat for our ears and our souls! Anyone else looking forward to singing “Christ the Lord is Risen Today”? An open hymnal displayed on a vintage stand is a reminder of the real meaning of Easter.
Our vintage green lockers are not only a fun place to display, but they’re essential to hold a lot of my stuff! I’ve got the perfect odd number of 5 old globes on top and can add pretty to the front, too. I love the industrial vibe the lockers give to our living room.
Are you feeling the French garden vibes? I realized the rabbit pillow cover has an Eiffel tower on it; didn’t even plan that! (find it HERE) This black side table is a recent furniture flip; it used to be a vintage vanity. You can see the how-to in “How to Repurpose a Vintage Vanity into Beautiful Side Tables”. You’ll see the other set I did in the kitchen.
Dining Room Decorated for Spring
The vintage garden style continued into the dining room. The hutch is filled with mossy greens, browns and whites and is topped off with my vintage birdcage collection. Garden tools, clay pots and moss bunnies give a subtle nod to Easter.

The Easter table isn’t set yet, but I’m gathering my ideas. I love pulling out this pretty vintage basket tablecloth for Easter. And the Portmerion plates I’ve been collecting have the organic vibe I love. (find them HERE)
Trader Joe’s flowers have been a weekly thing to satisfy my Spring fever. I love to add fresh-cut lilac and crabapple branches from the yard to my floral arrangements. When the little leaves pop out, it adds so much. I also hang Easter decor on the branches for an Easter tree.
Spring Decor in the Kitchen
Let’s head to the farmhouse kitchen, the heart of our home. Greens and blues and everything in between are my comfort zone colors. I also love everything having to do with birds, because we enjoy watching them out our big sliding glass deck door.
The kitchen Spring decor started small with some vintage stoneware I picked up at the thrift store (“Collecting Vintage Stoneware and Spring Decorating Ideas“). The blues and greens with pops of yellow felt like a good way to usher in Spring slowly this year.
Our kitchen isn’t large, but I love it. I designed the layout and the custom cabinets. Mr. Fix-it did everything else. We added the windows and the pantry and I planned it to be able to look out a window whenever I was working in the kitchen. We live on a beautiful 2 1/2 acre property that we love. We currently have 45 maple syrup taps in and have boiled our first 2 gallons of syrup for the season!
(I love decorating with THIS vintage book in our entry and choosing which pretty monthly page to feature; easy seasonal decor, indeed)
Instead of a kitchen table, we enjoy a cozy sitting area at the end of the kitchen. It’s the favorite spot in the house. Big kiddos and guests can sit and chat while I’m finishing a meal.
Our DIY repurposed coffee table (“From Vintage Roof Rack to Cool Coffee Table”) has a go-big-or-go-home bunny centerpiece that’s hopefully hiding the gross brown spruce tips that are still frozen outside the window! The DIY Mixed Moss Wreath is so fun to pull out each Spring. I need all the green I can get this time of year!
And that’s a wrap! We’re definitely space-challenged in our 100+ year old fake farmhouse, but I like to pack it in:) We’ve looked for other houses for years to get more gathering space, but how do you leave a house you’ve spent 20+ years customizing to your taste? And gardens that you’ve added to and cultivated? Maybe someday there will be a place that lures us away;)
